the born to rise
awards

The Born to Rise awards were established in 2018 to recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage, resilience, and a commitment to giving back to their community. The awards are named after two individuals who exemplified these qualities in their own lives: Maria Brown and Nalie Agustin.

The Maria Brown Humanitarian Award is named after Maria Brown who transitioned in 2016. Maria was known for her generosity, kindness, and dedication to helping others – even during her own struggles. The Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact in their community through their charitable work, volunteerism, or other acts of kindness and compassion.

The Inspirational Award is named after Nalie Agustin – a cancer survivor and advocate who has inspired countless others with her positive attitude and determination. Nalie has shared her story of battling cancer on social media, through public speaking, and through her book "The Diary of Nalie" which became a #1 Amazon bestseller. The Inspirational Award recognizes individuals who have overcome significant challenges in their lives and have inspired others with their positive attitude and unwavering spirit.
